and Naomi Duguid To write Seductions of Rice, Jeffrey Alford and Naomi Duguid, award-winning authors of Flatbreads and Flavors, traveled with their two sons, Dominic and Tashi, to the major rice-eating regions of the world, immersing themselves in the daily lives of the people. Whether in a tiny village in Thailand, on a rice farm in the mountains of Japan, or in the heart of sprawling Calcutta, they plunked themselves down next to people who know rice as a way of life. They spent time in early morning markets, in rice paddies with village farmers and in kitchens with helpful neighbors, trying to understand the seductions of rice.

Jeffrey Alford and Naomi Duguid's first book, Flatbreads and Flavors: A Baker's Atlas, won the 1995 James Beard Cookbook of the Year Award and the IACP Julia Child Award for Best First Book. Their articles and photographs appear frequently in Eating Well, Food & Wine, and Gourmet magazines. Asia Access, their stock photographic agency, is based in Toronto, where they live with Dominic and Tashi. At last six months a year, the family travels, photographing and doing research for their many projects. In their photographs, stories and recipes they give invaluable insights in to the food of many cultures.
