by Fran McCullough and Molly Stevens
Fran McCullough and Molly Stevens are obsessed. For nearly a decade, they have launched a search for the best and most distinctive recipes published each year, from the deservedly famous to the wonderfully obscure.
In The 150 Best American Recipes: Indispensable Dishes from Legendary Chefs and Undiscovered Cooks, Fran and Molly give us an outstanding selection of recipes expertly annotated with time-saving tips and useful test-kitchen notes.
From Jamie Oliver's Cherry Tomato Salad with Olives to the Vinegar Factory newsletter's Amazing Five-Hour Roast Duck, from a Skillet Blueberry Cobbler in a gang e-mail to Tom Douglas's Spice-Rubbed Turkey with Sage Gravy and Wild Mushroom Stuffing, this book has it all. Nothing thrills Fran and Molly more than finding something brilliantly simple that any fool can make without a moment's anxiety—a dead-easy, accessible, knock-your-socks-off dish that appeals to any skill level—like Roasted Sausages and Grapes.
Fran and Molly always keep the holidays in mind when choosing recipes. They look for time-saving versions, side dishes with an interesting twist, or just something plain remarkable. High-temperature Rib Roast of Beef with Yorkshire Pudding, Monte's Ham, Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Walnuts and Pecorino, Mashed Potatoes with Sage and White Cheddar Cheese, Pumpkin and Goat Cheese Gratin, and Brown Sugar Sour Cream Cheesecake.
So dig in and start cooking from this amazing cookbook—you're guaranteed impressive results. The 150 Best American Recipes will get you to look at a dish in a new way and discover exciting culinary tricks, but ultimately it will acquaint you with a slew of winners that you will want to make again and again.
