| 5I During: The gas cooktop, mounted on the peninsula above a "pots-and-pans drawer" base cabinet. The gas line had to be rerouted through the floor and up through the rear of the cabinet. The pipe fixture in the upper right corner required a bit of customization: the contractor shaved out a recess in the rear and right side panel of the upper drawer to accommodate the gas fitting. Also, the cooktop bottom extends slightly into the upper drawer space, so large items can't be stored here, but it's perfect for heatproof spatulas, big spoons and other flat or narrow utensils. |
