You've suddenly decided to invite all your friends over to watch the big game...but you haven't planned on how to feed these animals. Cooking up a hot meal is out of the question (they'll be here soon), avocados are too hard to mash into guacamole, and you've only got about 20 minutes to dash through the express line for supplies. What will you serve?
Chips and dips, of course. Not generally the healthiest of meals, but no one ever turns them down. (For healthier snacks, serve the dips with fresh carrots, celery, zucchini and other vegetables.) You'll get big kudos if you serve freshly made dips, instead of those dehydrated, chemically-laden, u-mix-it powders or preservative enriched gooey stuff in jars. And you'll score even more points if you jazz up the menu with Southern-inspired recipes like the ones below.
Speaking of Southern inspirations, you'll be hearing a lot of Southern expressions broadcast from Atlanta's Super Bowl match, but there are some things you'll never hear a Southerner say...
Ten Things a Southerner Would Never Say:
Last week, the Buccaneers and Jaguars almost represented Florida in this year's Super BowlÉeven if they had, be advised that most Southerners no longer consider Florida to be a true Southern state—too many Yankees! But whatever state you hail from, remember to play hard, play fair—and eat hearty.
Whip those dips!
Pass those chips!
Go team!
