Are they back already? Have no fear; the recipes
this month are devoted to entertaining family and friends. No
matter what you celebrate, you can express your holiday goodwill
with chocolate. And if your goodwill is in short supply, maybe
consuming one of these goodies can help. Happy Holidays, Happy New
Year, and Happy Real New Millenium to all
of my readers, and special thanks to Kate, Thomas, and my
family!
So, how's your willpower these days? If it isn't iron-clad, I suggest you stop reading this section now. If you don't, you have only yourself to blame when you can't stop eating the goodies from Mrs. Weinstein's Toffee, Inc. of Santa Barbara, CA. Lotte Weinstein emigrated to the US from Denmark in 1964, and despite having a busy schedule as a wife, mother, and psychotherapist/consultant, always made toffee as a special-occasion gift for family and friends just as she had seen her mother make it in Copenhagen. Eventually, she went into the toffee business.
Today, Mrs. Weinstein's Toffee, Inc. produces almond, hazelnut, pistachio, and pecan toffees covered in milk and dark chocolates. These are soft toffees, covered in what look like flakes of chocolate, a pleasing visual effect But my devotion is reserved for her Toffolos: bite-sized, flattish, irregular rounds of crunchy toffee enrobed in a thick layer of milk, dark, or a marbleized blend of white, milk, and dark chocolates. They look innocent enough, and you think you'll be content with one or two, but I promise you that they are quite addictive. Gift assortments and online ordering are also available. Mrs. Weinstein's Toffee, Inc. can be found at www.mwtoffee.com. You can also order by calling toll free at (800) 682-0978, calling the company directly at (805) 965-0422, or faxing them at (805) 965-8123. Just make sure there are some Toffolos left for me!
I Love Chocolate wants YOU!!! Do you have a comment, question, or suggestion? How about a recent chocolate "find" you'd like to share? You can contact me at: sdziadwm@[email-address-removed]; I'd like your input on this column. Thanks!
'Till next month (and year!),
Yours in chocolate,
Stephanie
