A Seasonal Guide to Healthy Eating
Commemorating 50 years of School Lunch

 

New England "Maple Baked Beans"

30 minutes or longer Serves: 6

Ingredients

  • 2 12 oz cans vegetarian baked beans
  • 1/2 cup maple-flavored syrup
  • 1/3 cup onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup catsup
  • 1 Tbsp prepared mustard
  • 1/4 cup lowfat white cheddar cheese, shredded (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

1. Mix all ingredients together. Pour into a greased casserole and bake, uncovered, for 30 minutes or longer.

2. Sprinkle cheddar (optional) on top for the last ten minutes of baking. Serve warm.
