Lettuce in Your Kitchen

It's only natural that two masters of grilling would write a book about salads—what else complements grilled food better than leafy greens, tart dressings and zesty vegetables?

Chris Schlesinger and John Willoughby, well known for The Thrill of the Grill and License to Grill, have elevated the salad from a simple side dish to a tantalizing main course in their new book, Lettuce in Your Kitchen.

Their salad ingredients range from the exotic, like grilled quail and grilled foie gras, to the more ubiquitous romaine lettuce and spinach. But the real magic of their menus lies in the art of how these ingredients combine—and that's where their tips and recipes shine.

To show you what I mean, I've included a handful of samples from Lettuce in Your Kitchen. Personally, I could live on salads all year long, and this book offers great new ideas for expanding my current repertoire. I hope you find it as fresh and inspiring as I have.
